The Vaccination Schedule
Vaccinations are completed in stages over a period of time. Both dogs and cats typically receive their first course of shots when they are six to eight weeks of age. Then they’ll receive booster injections every few weeks afterward until they are fully vaccinated. Your vet might also want them to have an annual booster shot.
Rabies vaccination is required by law in most parts of Ontario for both cats and dogs starting at three months of age. After the initial vaccination, they must keep up with rabies booster vaccinations for the rest of their life, typically with a booster in the first year and every three years after that.
